Installing Mower Deck

CAUTION: Drive the machine slowly and avoid quick stops when the attachment is removed. Do not operate machine at higher speeds without attachment installed.

  1. Drive machine up to mower deck, lining up center of machine with mower deck drive shaft.

  2. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the Safety section.)

Remove retainer ring (A) from hanger pin (B) on both sides of deck.

  4. Pull hanger pins out of adjustment plates (C).

  5. TCAL46535
    TCAL46535-UN-12APR13

Remove spring pin (D) and drilled pin (E) from front of lift arm (F), and remove lift arm from mower deck.

  6. TCT007303
    TCT007303-UN-02MAY13

Remove hitch pin (G) and drilled pin (H) from each lift arm.

  7. Insert the mower deck lift arms into the machine lift arm sockets.

  8. Align the holes in lift arms with holes in lift arm sockets, and install drilled pins (H) on left and right sides of machine. Install hitch pins (G) into drilled pins.

  9. CAUTION: Avoid injury. Hydraulic components may have stored energy. Before servicing the machine, carefully release pressure from any hydraulic components by lowering attachment components completely and moving hydraulic control levers back and forth.

Remove cotter pin (I). Remove and discard drilled pin (J) and remove cylinder.

Install lift cylinder shaft through the opening in up stop bracket (K).

  12. Align legs with holes in lift arms and cylinder (L). Secure with new drilled pins (M) provided in kit and cotter pins (N).

  13. TCT007305
    TCT007305-UN-03MAY13

Position the mower deck so the front attachment brackets (O) are aligned with the ends of the lift arms.

  14. Push attachment lift lever forward into float position.

  15. Push down on lift arms until ends drop down into front attachment brackets.

  16. Install drilled pins through bracket and lift arm, and secure with spring pins.

  17. TCAL46538
    TCAL46538-UN-12APR13

Start machine and raise mower deck to top of travel. Stop engine. Mower deck should rotate as shown above.

  18. TCAL46539
    TCAL46539-UN-12APR13

Lock service latches (P) on left and right side mower deck lift arms.

  19. TCAL46540
    TCAL46540-UN-12APR13

60 and 72-inch Deck Only: Remove spring pin (Q) and drilled pin (R) from anti-scalp wheel (S). Raise the anti-scalp wheel to its highest position, and install drilled pin and spring pin.

  20. TCAL46541
    TCAL46541-UN-12APR13

Lift mower deck drive shaft (T) up and over the top of the machine’s front axle (U). Extend the drive shaft to allow it to sit on top of the axle.

  21. TCAL46542
    TCAL46542-UN-12APR13

Raise the rear of the mower deck and install the hanger pin (B) into the hole in adjustment plate (C) that matches the cutting height selected for the front caster wheels. (See decal on front of mower deck.)

  22. Install retainer ring (A) onto hanger pin. Repeat for the other lift arm.

  23. TCAL46543
    TCAL46543-UN-12APR13

Open the service hatch (V) on the machine, and attach the mower deck drive shaft (T) onto the machine’s PTO output shaft (W) as follows:

    1. Push the mower deck drive shaft onto the PTO output shaft. (It may be necessary to turn the mower deck drive shaft to align the spines of the two shafts.)

    2. Once the splines align and the drive shafts begin to couple together, pull the coupler ring (X) forward and continue to push the mower deck drive shaft rearward onto the PTO output shaft until the coupler locks in place.

    3. Release the coupler ring.

    4. Push and pull the coupler until you are sure it is locked on the shaft.

    5. TCAL46544
      TCAL46544-UN-12APR13

Attach front (Y) and rear (Z) drive shaft shield chains around the brake cross shaft. Adjust the chains as required to maintain minimal slack as the mower deck is raised or lowered to its travel limits.

  24. Close and latch the service hatch.

  25. Set the mower deck cutting height.

  26. Adjust the anti-scalp wheel so height of wheel is 6 mm (1/4 in.) above the ground when on a level surface.

  27. Unlock the service latches.

  28. Lower the mower deck to the ground.
