Removing and Installing Blades

  1. Raise mower deck completely.

  2. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the Safety section.)

  3. Lock lift arm service latches.

  4. Rotate mower deck for service.

  5. CAUTION: Rotating blades are dangerous. Before adjusting or servicing mower:

    • Disconnect spark plug wire(s) or battery negative (-) cable to prevent engine from starting accidently.

    • Always wear gloves when handling mower blades or working near blades.

    Insert a wooden block (A) between end of blade and edge of deck to prevent blade from turning while removing blade hardware.



  6. Remove bolt and washer (B), by turning the bolt counterclockwise until removed. Remove blade (C) from spindle. Repeat for all blades requiring service.

  7. Inspect the blades for damage. Replace all damaged blades.

  8. Sharpen dull blades.

  9. Clean blades, spindles, and hardware.

  10. Balance the blades.

  11. Install blade onto mower deck spindle with wings of blade facing up.

  12. Install blade bolt and washer with the cupped-side of washer against the blade. Tighten blade bolt to specification. Repeat for other blades.

  13. Lower mower decks completely.
