Adjusting Drive Belt Tension

  1. Remove the mower deck belt shield.

  2. Lower the mower deck to the ground.

  3. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the Safety section.)

    60 in. side discharge deck shown, other decks similar.

    Loosen nuts (A) and (B).


  5. Measure length (C) of belt tension spring from hook to hook.

    • Adjust length according to label (D) on idler arm.

  6. Adjust nut (E) until length of belt tension spring is correct.

  7. Tighten nuts (A) and (B).

  8. Install belt shield.
