Operating (Optional) Turf Conditioner Or Rotary Brush
CAUTION: Avoid injury! Blades are sharp and rotate quickly:
-
Keeps hands and feet away from cutting units while machine is
running.
-
Always wear gloves while working on cutting units.
-
Watch for rotation of cutting reel. Rotating one cutting reel
can cause another blade or cutting reel to rotate.
IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Help prevent dulling of blades. Do
not use GTC for three days following top dressing. The
initial setting should be the same as the Height Of Cut (HOC) to prevent
damage to the turf.
NOTE: Stress is a cumulative result of many factors such as
irrigation, temperature, humidity, chemical application, disease,
thatch, etc. Conditioning aggressiveness will require
adjustment and monitoring as these factors vary.
Conditioning frequency may also need to be reduced in some cases.
The conditioner process involves shallow vertical cutting. The
blades are adjusted to cut runners and lift horizontal leaf material.
It is important that frequent and thorough observations be performed
or stress to the plants may occur. Make adjustments as necessary.
Condition greens the first time with blades set the same as
HOC. Closely examine each green and note any inconsistencies or appearance
of over-aggressiveness. Decrease GTC penetration if necessary.
Check each green 1 - 2 hours after cutting. Look for tendency
toward a yellow or brown tint. This indicates over-stress.
If visible stress is observed, decrease GTC penetration. Check
frequently for stress.
Rotary Brush
-
Consider turf conditions when setting the height of the Rotary
Brush Initially set the height of the Rotary Brush equal to the height
of cut.
-
Setting the brush height lower than the height of cut will result
in a greater brushing effect on the turf, however this may accelerate
brush wear and cause turf stress.
-
When operating the Rotary Brush, monitor the turf for signs
of stress or damage and readjust the height to minimize these effects.
-
Avoid operating the Rotary Brush after top dressing or fertilizing.
The brush can remove such material after being applied to the turf.
Engaging the GTC or Rotary Brush
-

TCAL41617-UN-22JAN13
Loosen T-handles (A) on each side.
-
Turn wing nut (B) on both sides of cutting unit to lower GTC
or Rotary Brush shaft.
-
Tighten T-handles (A) on each side.
-
Turn handle (C) up to the detent run position.
Disengaging the GTC or Rotary Brush
-

TCAL41618-UN-22JAN13
Turn handle (C) down to the detent off position.
-
Loosen T-handles (A) on each side.
-
Turn wing nuts (B) on both sides of cutting unit to raise GTC
or Rotary Brush shaft.
-
