Checking Hydraulic Oil Level

CAUTION: Avoid injury! Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids.

Use caution when filling and draining hydraulic oil. During periods of machine operation, the hydraulic oil reservoir can get hot. Allow engine and oil reservoir to cool before servicing.

NOTE: Check oil level in hydraulic pump when oil is cold. Oil expands during operation and could overflow.

  1. Park the machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

  2. Aeration head must be lowered to lowest point to allow access to engine compartment.

  3. NOTE: Put transport stops in aeration position. Aeration head must be lowered to lowest point to allow access to engine compartment.

    Lower aeration head:

    1. Turn key to ON position.

    2. Put MANUAL/AUTOMATIC switch in MANUAL position.

    4. Pull clutch lever (C) toward the operator to engage drive clutch.

    5. Push and hold the aerator engagement switch (D) in the direction of the aeration head to lower aeration head.

    6. Turn key to STOP position. Release bail.

  4. Remove aeration head cover.

  5. NOTE: Clean the area around the reservoir plug before removing.

    • If oil is low, add oil to bring oil level no higher than specification.
    • If oil is overfull, drain oil to proper level.
