Changing Hydraulic Oil

CAUTION: Avoid injury! Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids.

Use caution when filling and draining hydraulic oil. During periods of machine operation, the hydraulic oil reservoir can get hot. Allow engine and oil reservoir to cool before servicing.

  1. Park the machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the Safety section.)

  2. Aeration head must be lowered to lowest point to allow access to engine compartment.

  3. NOTE: Put transport stops in aeration position. Aeration head must be lowered to lowest point to allow access to engine compartment.

    Lower aeration head:

    1. Turn key to on position.

    2. Put manual/automatic switch in manual position.

Place drain pan under reservoir (G).

  10. Remove two bolts (H) and remove reservoir away from pump (I).

  11. Allow oil to drain completely. Clean reservoir with clean solvent.

  12. Check reservoir seal (J) and bolt seals (K) for any damage.

  13. Lightly coat reservoir seal with grease.

  14. Install reservoir with filler plug (L) towards the top and secure with bolts.

  15. Fill reservoir to specification. Install fill plug.

  16. IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Make sure that key switch is in the off position before connecting battery cables.

Install battery and secure battery cables.

  17. Install battery and clutch covers.

  18. Turn key to on position.

  19. Raise and lower coring head several times to work the air out of the system and to check for hydraulic leaks.

  20. Raise coring head and remove fill plug. Fluid level must be to specification. Add oil if necessary.
