Installing Belt Pulleys

  1. Install the snap ring and bearing (A) if removed.

  2. Install the pulley shaft and other bearing.

  3. IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! The pulley with the teeth is the belt pulley. Install it so that it is lined up with the belt and tensioner pulley.

    NOTE: Pulley can engage threads at two different points on shaft. The crank pin must be 180° apart from its mating flywheel when the pulley is threaded completely. If not, remove pulley and engage threads at opposite point on shaft.

    Apply blue Loctite® to the shaft threads and install the washer and belt pulley.



  4. IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Excessive vibration occurs if tine holders are not timed correctly.

    Install washer and remaining pulley. Thread pulley on so the timing of the inside tine holders and the two outside tine holders move together.

    Install belt and belt tensioner sheave (D).



  6. Adjust belt tension. The belt must deflect approximately to specification.

  7. NOTE: Bolts holding connecting rods to belt pulleys are LEFT-HAND threaded. Refer to the decal on the arm indicating direction of thread.

    Install connecting rods (E) and secure with flat washers (F) and bolts. Tighten to specification.
