Removing and Installing Battery


Removing Battery

  1. Park the vehicle safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

    Remove strap (A) securing battery.



  3. Disconnect negative (-) battery cable (B).

  4. Push red cover away from positive (+) battery cable (C) and disconnect cable from battery.

  5. Remove battery.


Installing Battery

NOTE: The service battery is slightly deeper and may need to have the battery bracket moved out. The battery bracket has two sets of mounting holes.

  1. If replacement battery is larger than removed battery:

    1. Remove hardware (D) from both sides and bottom of bracket.

    2. Slide bracket (E) out to the other hole in bracket to allow the deeper service battery to fit.

    3. Install hardware.

  2. Install battery.

  3. Connect positive (+) cable to battery positive (+) terminal first, then negative (-) cable to battery negative (-) terminal.

  4. Apply spray lubricant on battery terminals to help prevent corrosion.

  5. Install strap to secure battery.
