Checking and Adjusting Toe-In


Checking Toe-In

  1. Park machine on level surface.

  2. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

  3. Turn key switch OFF.

  4. Lock park brake.

    Place wheels in straight-ahead position. Measure the distance (A) from the inside edge of the ball socket nut to the center of the lower shock mounting stud on each side of the vehicle. Turn the steering wheel left or right until this measurement is equal on both sides.

    Measure the distance (B) from the outside edge of the front leaf spring to the center of the tie rod bolt on each side of the vehicle. This dimension should be equal. If it is not, perform the following adjustments.




Adjusting Toe-In

  1. If the dimension (B) from the center of the wheel to the edge of the leaf spring is not equal, loosen tie rod locknut (C) and turn link (D) until the measurement is equal. Tighten locknuts.

Final Adjustment

    Measure the distance (A) between the center of the tire beads (center of tire) at front of tire, hub height. Record measurement.



  2. Measure the distance between the center of the tire beads (center of tire) at rear of tire, hub height. Record measurement.

  3. Adjust tie rod lengths until measurement is within specification.
