Checking Air Restriction Indicator (Diesel Models)

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Never check air cleaner until restriction indicator is red or at 6.2 kPa (25 in. of H₂ O) vacuum. This keeps contamination of the intake system to a minimum.

Check air filter restriction indicator more frequently if operating in dusty conditions.

1. Lock park brake.

2. Place transmission in neutral.

3. Start engine.

   Check air filter restriction indicator (A).
   • When the indicator window (B) is yellow, no air cleaner service is required.
   • When the indicator window is red, air cleaner element needs replacement.
   • Vacuum scale (C) on indicator shows how restricted the air cleaner elements are.

5. Stop the engine and wait for any moving parts to stop.

6. Service the air cleaner element if sight window shows red or reading is 6.2 kPa (25 in. H₂ O) vacuum.

7. Depress the rubber button (D) on top of the housing to reset indicator.
