Starting the Engine
CAUTION: Avoid injury! Engine exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide
and can cause serious illness or death. • Move the
machine to an outside area before running the engine.
• Do not run an engine in an enclosed area without adequate
ventilation.
• Connect a pipe extension to the engine exhaust pipe to
direct the exhaust fumes out of the area.
• Allow fresh outside air into the work area to clear the
exhaust fumes out.

Move both motion control levers (A) out to the neutral lock
position.

Sit on the operator’s seat.

Put on seat belt.
-
Lock the park brake.

Push the PTO switch (B) off to disengage the PTO.

Pull throttle lever back to the slow idle position.

Turn key switch to the start position (C).

Release key to the run position (D) when the engine starts.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Do not overheat starter. Do not operate
starter more than ten seconds at a time. Wait two minutes before trying
again if engine does not start.
Turn the key to the start position for no longer than 10 seconds.
Release key to run position after engine starts.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Unnecessary engine idling may cause
engine damage. Excessive idling can cause engine overheating, carbon
build-up, and poor performance.
Let engine run at half-speed position for five minutes to allow
it to warm up before operating machine.
