Replacing Mower Deck Drive Belt (60 in. SD and 60 in. MOD)

Removing Deck Drive Belt

1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the Safety section.)

2. Lower mower deck to the lowest cutting height position.

   Remove belt shields (A).

4. Remove foot plate.

5. CAUTION: Avoid injury! Fingers and hands can be pinched or crushed. Be aware of potential pinch points and keep hands away.

   Remove belt (B) from sheave (C).

6. CAUTION: Avoid injury! Components are installed under spring tension. Wear eye protection and use proper tools when installing and removing components with spring tension.

   Remove tension spring (D) from mower deck at the rear side.

7. Remove bolt (E) and remove tension bracket (F).

8. Remove four lock nuts and cap screws (G) holding mower deck gearbox bracket to frame.

9. Remove gearbox bracket assembly.

10. Remove belt.

Belt Installation

1. Remove tension bracket assembly and remove mower deck gearbox as shown in “Removing Deck Drive Belt”.

   Route drive belt (A) around mower deck sheaves as shown but not around sheave (B).

   Wrap the drive belt around the gear box drive sheave (C) and install gearbox bracket onto mower deck.

4. Install tension bracket assembly (D) and mount bolt (E).

5. IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Be sure that sheave (F) is in the forward most position.

   Wrap belt around sheave (B).

6. Adjust tension for mower deck drive belt.

7. Install foot plate.

8. Install belt shields.
