Checking Spark Plug
Touching hot surfaces can burn skin. The engine, components,
and fluids will be hot if the engine has been running. Allow the engine
to cool before servicing or working near the engine and components.

Park the machine safely. (See Parking Safely in SAFETY.)

Raise and secure cargo box with latch support.

From under cargo box, disconnect spark plug wire (A).

Tilt seats forward.

Remove access panel behind passenger seat (B).

Disconnect spark plug wire (C) behind panel.
-
Remove spark plug(s) using appropriate spark plug socket.

Inspect spark plug(s) for:
-
Cracked porcelain.
-
Pitted or damaged electrodes.
-
Other wear or damage.
-
Clean spark plug(s) carefully with a wire brush.
-
In Canada, replace with resistor spark plug only.
Replace spark plug(s) if necessary.

Check and adjust spark plug gap (F):

See SPECIFICATIONS for gap distance.
-
Install and tighten spark plug(s). Tighten to specification.

Install spark plug wire(s).
-
Install access panel.
-
Lower seat.
-
Lower the cargo box.
