Changing Engine Oil and Filter

  1. Change the oil more often if the vehicle is used in extreme conditions:

    • Extremely dusty conditions.
    • Frequent slow or low-speed operation.
    • Frequent short trips.

    Run engine a few minutes to warm oil.

  2. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY Section.)

  3. Turn off engine.

  4. Raise hood.

    Position drain pan under drain valve located on the left side of engine block.



  6. Lift lock (A) up on handle and turn handle clockwise (outward from tractor) to allow oil to drain into pan

    Clean dirt from around oil filter (C).



  8. Put drain pan under filter drip tray hose (D).

  9. Turn oil filter counterclockwise with a filter wrench to remove.

  10. Put a light coat of clean engine oil on gasket of new filter.

  11. Install replacement oil filter by turning oil filter clockwise until gasket contacts filter base. Tighten filter an additional one-half turn.

    Remove oil filler cap (E) on right side of machine. Add specified amount of oil.

  13. Install and tighten filler cap.

  14. Start and run engine at idle to check for leaks.

  15. Stop engine. Fix any leaks before operating.

  16. Check engine oil level. Add oil if necessary.
