Servicing Clutches and Drive Belt

Avoid injury! Rotating parts catch fingers, loose clothing, or long hair. To adjust or service machine, wait for engine and all moving parts to stop before leaving operators station.

  1. Park the machine safely. (See Parking Safely in Safety section.)

  2. Remove cargo box. (See Removing and Installing Cargo Box in Service Miscellaneous section.)

    Loosen clamps (A) and remove air inlet hose (B) from clutch enclosure (C).



  4. Note what hole each bolt came from when removing clutch enclosure cover.

    Remove seven horizontally installed bolts (D), eight vertically installed bolts (E), and outer clutch enclosure cover (F).

    Using compressed air, clean inside clutch enclosure cover, clutch enclosure base (G), and drive (H) and driven clutch (I) assemblies.



  6. Check drive belt. (See Checking Drive Belt in this section.)

  7. Replace drive belt if needed. (See Replacing Drive Belt in this section.)

  8. Inspect and clean air intake. (See Servicing Air Intake in Service Engine section.)

  9. Install clutch enclosure cover.

  10. Install air inlet hose with hose clamps.

  11. Install cargo box. (See Removing and Installing Cargo Box in Service Miscellaneous section.)


Checking Drive Belt

  1. Rotate and inspect drive belt for wear or damage.

  2. Measure the top surface of the belt width at (A). Verify that belt width meets minimum width specification.

    Drive Belt Top SurfaceWidth (minimum)29 mm (1.1 in)

  3. Replace drive belt if necessary. (See Replacing Drive Belt in this section.)


Replacing Drive Belt

  1. Remove drive belt (A) from driven pulley (B).

    Using a screwdriver (C) or pry bar, as shown, pry clutch so that belt (D) clears clutch fan (E) and housing (F).



  3. Remove belt.

  4. Install new belt.
