Remove Cooling Shroud and Remove Debris (Z720E and Z730M)
Compressed air can cause debris to fly a long distance. • Bystanders should avoid work area.
• Wear eye protection when using compressed air for cleaning
purposes.
• Reduce compressed air pressure to 210 kPa (30 psi).
To ensure proper cooling, always keep the engine
cooling fins and surrounding area clean. Operating the engine with
obstructed cooling fins could cause engine damage due to overheating.
-
Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)
-
Allow engine to cool.
-
Clean external engine surfaces.
-
Remove air cleaner cover and air filter. (See Checking and Replacing
Air Filtration System (Kawasaki Engine) in the SERVICE ENGINE section.)
-

Remove three rivets (A) by prying them up using a flat head
screwdriver under the head until it pops up.
-
Remove the fan screen guard (B).
-

APY11734-UN-01AUG18

engine.
-

APY11735-UN-01AUG18
Remove drain hose assembly mounting bolt (D).
-
Remove dipstick mounting bolt (E) and dipstick housing (F) from
engine.
-

APY11736-UN-01AUG18
Remove two fuel pump bolts (G).
-
Remove two shroud bracket bolts (H) from the front of the engine.
-
Lift shroud (I) upward and remove from engine compartment.
-
Clean debris from:
-
Fan areas
-
Cylinder head
-
Cooling fins
-
Area between engine and frame
-
Install shroud, fuel pump, dipstick housing, and drain hose
assembly respectively.
Engine shroud must be assembled so that the slots
in the shroud align with the ridge in the air intake and mating surfaces
along sides of engine. Failure to assemble correctly prevents the
air filter from sealing and may cause engine damage.
-
Install rotating screen guard with three rivets (A). Rivets
can be reinstalled by pushing them into the fastened position.
-
Install air filter and air cleaner cover. (See Checking and
Replacing Air Filtration System (Kawasaki Engine) in the SERVICE ENGINE
section.)
