Lubricating Mower Deck Spindles

Removal of belt shields is not necessary to lubricate the spindles.

1. Remove mower deck foot plate. (See Removing and Installing Mower Deck Foot Plate in the SERVICE MOWER Section.)

2. Lubricate each mower deck spindle with two pumps of grease at specified intervals as indicated:

• Remove 2 screws (C) on left spindle cover (A).
• Raise spindle cover (A) and lubricate spindle grease fitting (B).
• Raise opposite spindle cover and lubricate spindle grease fitting.

48A and 54A Mower Decks

• Raise spindle covers (A) and lubricate spindle grease fittings (B).
• Lubricate center spindle grease fitting (C) from front of mower deck.
• Lubricate idler arm grease fitting (D).
