Slow or Jerky Operation

Cold hydraulic oil.

Run engine and cycle loader.

Low hydraulic oil.

Poppet style selective control valve set slow.

Increase to fastest rate. See your tractor operator's manual.

Engine speed too slow.

Increase engine speed.

Internal cylinder leakage.

Test cylinders for internal leaks. Install cylinder repair kit. See your John Deere dealer.

Faulty tractor hydraulic system.

See your tractor operator's manual or your John Deere dealer.

"Flow checking" or faulty quick-connect coupler.

Replace coupler. See your John Deere dealer.

Overloading bucket or fork.

Incorrect control cable adjustment on loader operated with independent control valve.

Oil Leaks

Loose connections.

Tighten fittings.

External cylinder leakage.

External loader control valve leakage.

Lack of Lift Capacity

Load is greater than loader lift capacity.

Internal lift cylinder leakage.

Loader Operation Does Not Correspond With Control Lever Movement

Hydraulic hoses connected wrong.

Correct hoses connections. See Identifying Hose Connections in Service section.

Defective quick-connect coupler.

Replace coupler. See your John Deere dealer.

Loader Settles from Raised Position

Internal leak in control valve or cylinder.

Test for leaks. Install repair parts. See your John Deere dealer.
