Preparing Cutter For Transport

CAUTION: Prevent collisions between other road users, slow moving tractors with attachments or towed equipment, and self-propelled machines on public roads. Frequently check for traffic from the rear, especially in turns, and use hand signals or turn signal lights.

Use headlights, flashing warning lights, and turn signals day and night. Follow local regulations for equipment lighting and marking. Keep lighting and marking visible and in good working order. Replace or repair lighting and marking that has been damaged or lost.

1. Make sure reflectors, SMV sign and tail/warning lights (if equipped) are clean and visible.

CAUTION: A safety chain will help control drawn equipment should it accidentally separate from the drawbar.

Using the appropriate adapter parts, attach the chain to the tractor drawbar support or other specified anchor location. Provide only enough slack in the chain to permit turning.

See your John Deere dealer for a chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than the gross weight of the towed machine. Do not use safety chain for towing.

2. Pull-Type Hitch;

b. Make sure jackstand is in storage location at left-hand side of hitch mast (shown).

Lift-Type; Raise cutter to fully raised position using tractor hitch/rockshaft control. If equipped, set tractor hitch/rockshaft control lever in transport lock position. (See your tractor Operator's manual.)

CAUTION: To prevent bodily injury from rotating blades, be sure to disengage tractor PTO before transporting cutter.

3. Disengage tractor PTO.

4. Pull-Type and Semi-Mount Hitch; Operate tractor SCV to extend lift cylinder. Engage transport lock (A).

5. Semi-Mount with Hydraulic Offset Hitch; Operate tractor SCV to position cutter so it is "centered" behind tractor.
