Clutch slipping.

Make sure all four set screws on front of clutch are turned out (counterclockwise) fully. Repair or replace if necessary. (See your John Deere dealer.)

Excessive ground speed in heavy conditions.

Reduce ground speed.

Excessive scalping.
|
Adjust cutting height. (See procedure in Operating the Cutter section.)

Adjust tractor wheel tread. (See Preparing the Tractor section.)

Prolonged storage in damp conditions.

Free up slip clutch. (See FREEING SLIP CLUTCH in Service section.)

Inspect clutch linings and repair or replace as necessary. (See your John Deere dealer.)
