Operating the Cutter for Best Performance

  • Operate the cutter at full PTO rated speed.
  • Slower ground speeds, less than 8 km/h (5 mph), will result in better cut quality.
  • For best results, cutting height should be as low as possible (less than 100 mm [4 in.]).
  • For tall material, use a front chain discharge shield, in place of a rubber shield, to allow material to pass through.
  • For most conditions, adjust the cutter so that skid (wear) shoes are parallel to the ground.
  • Blades must be sharp. Be sure suction blades are installed for the correct rotation. (See REPLACING BLADES in the Service section.)
  • Suction blades are recommended for best cut quality and distribution for most applications. Flat blades should only be used for brush or stalky material.
