Detaching Loader

causym CAUTION: To help prevent personal injury caused by a falling loader, always detach on a hard, level surface. Loader must be equipped with a bucket and parking stands.

1. Dump bucket approximately 45° below level. (Full dump position for self-level loader.)

2. Lower bucket to ground, applying slight down pressure. Do not raise tires off ground.

3. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.

NOTE: Use boards under stands to prevent loader from sinking in soft ground.

4. 521 Loader (Serial No. -2899); Lowering parking stands:

a. Remove pin (A).

b. Slide stand up and swing down.

c. Install pin (A) to lock stand down.

d. Repeat above steps for stand on left-hand side.

NOTE: 541 Loader illustrated. 541 Loader stands are square. 521 Loader (Serial No. 2900- ) stands are round. Installation procedure is the same for both loaders.

521 Loader (Serial No. 2900- ) and 541 Loader; Installing parking stands:

a. Remove spring pin (A) from base of stand on right-hand side of loader.

b. Remove stand from tube and replace spring pin in tab at tube.

c. Install stand into bracket as illustrated. Fasten with pin (B) and spring pin.

d. Repeat above steps for stand on left-hand side.

5. Remove pin (A) to disconnect hoses from mast.

6. Release pins (A) from clips (B) and remove from both mounting frames. Store pins in holes (C).

7. Start engine.

8. Put transmission in neutral to allow tractor movement and release parking brake.

9. Extend lift cylinders until pocket behind bushing (A) is ahead of bushing (B).

NOTE: Parking stands should not contact ground during this operation. Dump bucket if more clearance of stand to ground is required.

NOTE: Move tractor forward IF necessary to keep hoses loose.

10. Roll back bucket until stands contact ground. Continue to roll back bucket until loader pins (A) lift approximately 152 mm (6 in.) out of frame saddles (B).

NOTE: See STORAGE section if loader will be left in storage for a long period of time.

causym CAUTION: Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.

11. Shut off engine and move control levers to relieve hydraulic pressure.

12. Disconnect couplers.

NOTE: Tractors without mid-couplers only; Remove hose bracket (A) under foot platform by removing spring pin (B).

13. Place caps on hoses and couplers.

14. Store hoses on loader. Do not lay them on ground.

15. Reverse tractor slowly away from loader.
