Every 10 Hours or Daily

Keeping Rotary Cutter Clean

IMPORTANT: Avoid machine damage due to build-up of debris on rotary cutter deck. Clean debris from deck daily or more often if necessary.

Build-up of debris may interfere with drivelines and cause gear cases to overheat resulting in damaged components. Rusting of deck can be caused by moisture in built-up debris.

Clean all debris from deck at the end of each day's operation.

Checking Gear Case Oil Level

NOTE: Perform the following procedure on all gear cases with rotary cutter on level ground. Left-hand side shown.

1. Remove dipstick/vent (A). Oil level should be between lines (B). Add John Deere GL-5 GEAR LUBRICANT or equivalent, if necessary.

2. Install dipstick/vent.

Input Drivelines

IMPORTANT: Unfold wings before lubricating drivelines.

For ease of access to driveline at tractor connection, leave rotary cutter attached to tractor and turn at an angle to expose lubrication fittings.

D-Passage

IMPORTANT: To prevent premature failure, the constant velocity joint requires extensive lubrication after every day of operation. The joint should be lubricated when it is warm or soon after operation.

Using fittings (B), lubricate constant velocity joints very generously to fill cavity (C), forcing grease through passage (D) and into cavity (A). Lubricate until grease is visible around ball joints.
