Hydraulic Cylinder Requirement

NOTE: Cylinders are supplied with the rotary cutter. The following information is for replacement if necessary.

IMPORTANT: To avoid cylinder damage, cylinder rod end on center body must be attached to the axle support. Rod end of wing cylinders attach to bracket on wing.

An orifice in the rod end port of wing cylinders and head-end port of lift cylinder is used to restrict flow of oil. This orifice must be removed and reinserted in new cylinder port if replacement is necessary.

Lift cylinder (B): 76 x 203 mm (3 x 8 in.)

Wing cylinders (A):

  • HX15 and CX15-76 x 305 mm (3 x 12 in.)
  • HX20 and CX20-89 x 305 mm (3.5 x 12 in.)

An Independent Control Valve is also available. (See your John Deere dealer.)

NOTE: Some older tractors have lower hydraulic pressure. If the rotary cutter is attached to an older tractor, certain conditions and attachments may leave the tractor with inadequate hydraulic pressure to lift the rotary cutter with the wings up. If this occurs, raise the rotary cutter with the wings down, then raise the wings; or replace lift cylinder (B) with an 89 x 203 mm (3.5 x 8 in.) cylinder.
