Lubricating and Maintaining Machine Safely

causym CAUTION: To help prevent personal injury caused by unexpected movement, be sure to service machine on a level surface.

Before lubricating, servicing or adjusting machine connected to a tractor:

1. Park machine on a hard level surface.
2. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in "Park".
3. Disengage PTO.
4. Raise machine and engage transport lock.
5. Raise wings and engage wing locks or lower wings completely.
6. Shut off tractor engine and remove key.
7. Place safety stands (A) under center body and wing sections, NOT under axles or wheel supports.
8. Start tractor engine and raise rotary cutter.
9. Disengage transport lock.
10. Lower machine onto stands.
11. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in "Park".
12. Shut off tractor engine and remove key.
13. Relieve pressure in hydraulic system. (See tractor Operator's Manual.)
14. Wait until all moving parts have stopped.
15. Disconnect PTO driveline from tractor.

The blades may rotate for several minutes after PTO is shut off. Look and listen for rotating driveline to stop before working on rotary cutter.

When checking hardware torque on gear case and blade holder, it will be necessary to work underneath rotary cutter. Support center and each wing frame with safety shop stands to prevent accidental lowering. Do not position safety stands under axle or wheel supports because these components can rotate.

After servicing is complete, replace all shielding that was removed for access to service parts.
