Removing and Installing Driveline-Slip Clutch

1. Disconnect driveline shield chain (B). 2. Open access panel (A) on shield.

NOTE: Slip clutch shield removed for illustration purposes.

3. Remove driveline assembly from gear case shaft.

  • LX4 and LX5; Remove M10 x 85 socket head screw (B) and M8 x 50 cap screw (A).
  • LX6; Pull locking collar (C) toward slip clutch.

4. Make repairs as necessary:

  • Slip clutch service-See DISASSEMBLING AND INSPECTING SLIP CLUTCH in this section.
  • Driveline repair-See your John Deere dealer.

IMPORTANT: Apply multipurpose grease on gear case input shaft.

5. Install driveline in reverse order of removal.

C-Collar
