Servicing Loader and/or Tractor Safely (Loader Attached)

causym CAUTION: Help prevent bodily injury from accidental lowering of loader. Do not perform service around front of tractor with loader elevated and unsupported. Before lubricating or servicing the loader or tractor, perform the following:

1. Engage parking brake or place transmission in "PARK".
2. Lower loader to ground.
3. Shut off tractor engine and remove key.
4. Relieve pressure in hydraulic system. (See procedure in your tractor Operator's Manual.)

Normally, access to engine compartment and front of tractor can be made with bucket flat on ground. However, due to tractor size and tire variations, it may be necessary to service tractor/loader with loader arms elevated. If so, do one of the following:

  • If equipped with bucket: Dump bucket fully and lower loader to the ground.
  • If equipped with forklift or bale fork: Raise loader to required height and place safety stands under frame of attachment. Lower attachment on stands, relieve hydraulic pressure and ensure weight of loader is fully supported by safety stands.
  • If not equipped with attachment: Raise loader to required height and place safety stands under "boom arms". Lower loader on stands, relieve hydraulic pressure and ensure weight of loader is fully supported by safety stands.
