Service Loader and/or Tractor Safely (Loader Attached)

Normally, engine compartment and front of tractor can be accessed with bucket flat on ground. However, due to tractor size and tire variations, it may be necessary to service tractor or loader with loader elevated.

Depending on loader and attachment configurations, do one of the following:

  • If servicing tractor or loader requires loader to be elevated, perform the following:
    1. CAUTION:

      W00278
      W00278-UN-04DEC91

      W24291
      W24291-UN-10FEB14

A - Handle, Shut Off Valve

Help prevent bodily injury from accidental lowering of loader. Do not perform service around front of tractor with loader elevated unless shut off valve is closed, locking loader into elevated position.

Shut off valve must not be used alone to lock loader in elevated position for servicing tractor. Support loader with floor stands or lifting straps/chains connected to an overhead hoist.

NOTE: Shut off valve is located on loader half of multicoupler on right-hand side of loader.
Raise loader to desired height and support elevated loader with floor stands or lifting straps/chains connected to an overhead hoist.
    2. Place transmission in PARK.
    3. Shut off engine and remove key.
    4. Turn valve handle (A) clockwise to lock loader in elevated position.
  • If loader is not required to be elevated for servicing tractor or loader, perform the following:
    1. CAUTION:

      W24292
      W24292-UN-23SEP13

Help prevent bodily injury from accidental lowering of loader. Do not perform service around front of tractor unless loader is safely secured.

      Place transmission in PARK.
    2. Roll bucket until front edge is facing ground.
    3. Lower boom to ground and shut off tractor engine.
    4. Relieve pressure in hydraulic system. (See RELIEVE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE SAFELY in Safety section.)
