Foam Marker

A foam marker is available for marking of spraying lanes. A 12V compressor (A) and a 22 liter foam tank (B) is then fitted on the right side of the platform. Foam concentrate is mixed with air to form foam doses in the mixing heads (C) at each end of the spray boom.

Before making the foam, first decide how long the foam doses must last in the field. Temperature, sunlight, relative humidity, water hardness, foam concentration and wind speed are a number of factors which influence the time the foam dose will last. If a low soap-water ratio of 1:63 (1.5%) is mixed with hard water, for example, the foam dose will last for approx. 11 hours at 23°C, partially cloudy weather with a low to moderate wind speed. If a higher soap concentration of, for example 1:32 (3%) is used, under the same conditions, the foam will last approx. 22 hours.

The foam doses will last longer when there is:

  • higher soap concentration
  • softer water
  • higher relative humidity
  • lower temperatures
  • partial clouds
  • lower wind speed

Unscrew the filling top in order to fill the foam tank with foam concentrate. First fill the tank with the required amount of water and then add soap, in order to avoid foaming in the tank itself.

Operation of foam marker

There is a separate control panel (A) to operate the foam marker. The supply cable of the control panel has a 2-pole plug which must be plugged into the 2- pole socket of the tractor.

causym CAUTION: The contents of the foam tank may be under pressure. Unscrew the tank top slowly in order to release any pressure. Try not to lose the pressure by adjusting the serrated screw (overpressure valve). This safety valve has been factory set at the maximum permissible pressure (1 bar) in the tank.

In order to operate the foam marker, simply set the control panel switch to "ON left" or "ON right" to send the foam concentrate to the left or right boom arm. Foam doses will not be formed with the switch in the "OFF" position.

The "MAX" / "MIN" knob (B) on the compressor is used to adjust the amount of foam per time period. Turn the knob anti-clockwise (towards MAX) for more foam, or clockwise (towards MIN) for less foam. In the maximum position, a foam dose is formed every two seconds, this is one foam dose once every 4 meters at 7 km/h. In this maximum position, the tank contents last for approx. 40 minutes.
Flush the system at the end of each season, especially if hard water is used.
