Balancing The Spray Boom
NOTE:
The compression springs may not be fitted to the boom suspension system to balance the spray boom.
To balance the spray boom, proceed as follows:
-
Fold out the spray boom.
-
Unlock the spray boom suspension (optional lock cylinder needs to be disengaged completely).
-
Operate the appropriate selective control valve of the tractor (for sprayers with hydraulic operation or with hydraulic selector) to adjust the length of the boom tilt cylinder to 377.5 mm between piston rod connection and hydraulic cylinder connection (C). In this position, the spray boom should be perpendicular to the pendulum arm (D).
-
For sprayers with electro-hydraulic operation (EHB-1 or EHB-2), the boom tilt should be set in the centre position "0" with the rotary switch on the EL-4 control box. The length of the boom tilt cylinder should then be 377.5 mm between piston rod connection and hydraulic cylinder connection (C). If this is not the case, the potentiometer should be recalibrated.
-
Drive with the sprayer on the field and check whether the spray boom is level.
-
If the spray boom tends to one side, move the balancing weight (A) to the opposite direction in the spray boom. Fix the balancing weight in the spray boom if the proper position is found where the boom is level.
-
With the boom tilt cylinder (B) in the centre position, the pendulum arm (D) should be vertical and the boom level.
