Compressor operation

Compressor Start-up

causym CAUTION: The gearbox may only be switched on and off when the power take-off shaft is not in operation.

Make sure the sprayer master valve is closed to ensure that the electrical air by-pass valve is open. This will prevent the compressor operating against a pressure before it reaches the correct running speed.

1. Switch off the engine and disengage the P.T.O.

2. Pull out the compressor gearbox lever.

3. Start the engine.

4. Set the engine speed to obtain the correct compressor speed.

5. Engage the P.T.O.

6. Release the P.T.O. clutch slowly.

7. Re-check the engine speed.

8. Open the master valve to adjust the correct air and liquid pressure for spraying.

NOTE: The power take-off shaft may need to be rotated by hand, after which the rod can be

pulled out completely, before switching on the ventilator.

Shut-down

1. Close the sprayer master valve.

2. Depress the P.T.O. clutch and disengage the P.T.O.

3. Reduce the engine speed to idle.

4. Release the P.T.O. clutch.

5. Switch off the engine.

6. Push in the compressor gearbox lever to disengage.

Re-starting the compressor

Do not restart the compressor if:

  • There is pressure in the system. If this is the case, close the sprayer master valve to ensure that the air by-pass valve is opened. Re-start the compressor. When the compressor has reached the correct operating speed, open the sprayer master valve to build up air pressure.
  • Input (P.T.O.) speed is too slow.
