Boom Tilt Correction

The boom suspension system is self-correcting. The boom tilt correction will therefore not be needed often on flat fields.

However, some degree of boom tilt correction is always necessary when closing boom sections. This may also be the case if the spray boom needs to be set at an angle (e.g. when working on slopes).

The tilt position of the spray boom can be changed because there is a second articulation point in the pendulum system (A). The boom tilt correction is always carried out with a hydraulic cylinder (B). For good functioning of the boom tilt correction there needs to be sufficient clearance between the guiding pin for the boom tilt actuator (C) and the guiding strip (D). The boom tilt correction is done with a rotary switch on the control box. Using the boom tilt correction with pre-set position, the position of the spray boom can be very accurately adjusted to the conditions in the field.

When button (A) is in position 0, the boom is in the neutral position. On flat ground and with all sections open, the spray boom must hang parallel to the ground with the button in this position (if potentiometers are properly adjusted in the "Factory Settings" of the GreenStar 2™ Sprayer Control System). The spray boom can be corrected by turning the knob to the left or right. Oversteering or prolonged post-correction is avoided because you know exactly how far the cylinder will travel.
