Compressor
IMPORTANT: Make sure the compressor speed is as constant as possible. Never allow the compressor to run slowly, with counter pressure. Close the master valve when the compressor is engaged. Depending on the version, the Twin Fluid 800 series trailed crop sprayers are fitted with a single rotary vane compressor type E-156 (A) for spray booms of 18 to 28 meters or with two compressors ,type E-156 for spray booms of 30 meters and above. The compressor(s) are mechanically driven. At the maximum speed of 1600 rpm, the E-156 compressor has an air output of 173 m 3 /h at 0.0 bar. The maximum power required is 10.2 kW (at 1500 rpm and 2.0 bar). The maximum delivery pressure of the compressor is 2.0 bar. The compressors can operate at speeds between 1000 and 1700 rpm. This corresponds to a tractor PTO speed between 316 and 537 rpm (with a gearbox drive ratio of 1 : 3.16). Never allow the compressor to run slowly with counter pressure or outside the operating speeds. A pressure relief safety valve (B) is fitted to the compressor. The pressure relief valve should be checked at regular intervals by the dealer for correct operation. When checking the pressure relief valve, be aware of hot air from the valve and the high temperature of the valve and pipe work. |

CAUTION:
The temperature of the air leaving the compressor can be in excess of 200°C (measured at the discharge port). This is dependent on operating conditions and running time. The compressor, pressure relief valve, air pressure regulator group and air lines will have hot surfaces during operation. Do not touch these surfaces to avoid burns.

Cooling
The compressor is cooled by two fans, that draw cool air in through the cowls, and exhaust the warmed air out over the body of the compressor. Keep the exterior surfaces of the compressor clean. This will prevent the compressor from overheating by allowing an unrestricted flow of the cooling air over the body of the compressor. |

Compressor Mechanical Drive
IMPORTANT: The compressor must never be started with counter pressure. The by-pass valve must be opened before starting the compressor (Master valve closed). The E-156 compressor(s) are driven by a gearbox with two outlet shafts. For sprayers up to 28 meters, one single compressor is fitted. For sprayers of 30 meters and above, both outlets are used to drive two compressors. The gearbox contains oblique gears in an oil bath. Oblique gears guarantee low noise operation of the gearbox. The gearbox is driven by the tractor, via the power take-off shaft. The pump is directly driven by the through axle and a flexible coupling. The compressor is driven via the transmission (1:3.16). A slide pinion has been fitted to the outgoing axle of the gearbox, to turn the compressor(s) on and off. The slide pinion is operated via a switching rod with ball (A) fitted to the front of the gearbox. When the switching rod is pressed in , the compressor(s) is turned off , when pulled out , the compressor(s) is switched on . NOTE: The power take-off shaft may need to be rotated by hand, after which the rod can be pulled out completely, before switching on the compressor. The compressor can theoretically be driven from either end (clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation). Ensure that the compressor rotates in the same direction as the arrow cast on the side of the body (B). The compressor on the sprayer should always rotate anti-clockwise (C). |

Suction air filter
The air is sucked in by the compressor via air filter (A) in order to avoid pollution in the air circuit and to protect the compressor against damage. The degree of soiling of the air filter can be checked using a filter indicator (B). As soon as the filter indicator enters the red zone, the filter must be replaced or cleaned. For sprayers with two compressors, two separate air filters are fitted on the machine. The air filter element must be cleaned regularly (weekly) or more often when working in a dusty environment. |
