Balancing The Spray Boom

NOTE: The compression springs may not be fitted to the boom suspension system to balance the spray boom.

To balance the spray boom, proceed as follows:

  • Fold out the spray boom.
  • Unlock the spray boom suspension (lock cylinder needs to be disengaged completely).
  • Adjust the rotary switch 19 on the EHC-2 control box to operate the boom tilt in the centre position "0". In this position the spray boom should be perpendicular to the pendulum (E). The length of the boom tilt cylinder should then be 598 mm between piston rod connection (C) and hydraulic cylinder connection (D). If this is not the case, the boom tilt potentiometer should be calibrated. See "Boom Tilt Sensor Calibration" in the section "GreenStar 2™ Sprayer Control System" and the section "Preparing the Tractor".
  • Drive with the sprayer on the field and check whether the spray boom is level.
  • If the spray boom leans to one side, adjust the piston length via the boom tilt toggle switch 20. Distance between piston rod connection (C) and hydraulic cylinder connection (D) must be 598 mm. To level the boom, move the balancing weight (A) in the opposite direction on the spray boom. Tighten the balancing weight on the spray boom when the correct position has been found. When the boom is level the boom tilt potentiometer should be calibrated.
  • With the boom tilt cylinder (B) in the centre position, the pendulum arm (E) should be vertical and the boom level.
