Machine Composition

Basic Machine

The basic machine comprises of a steel frame and a polyethylene solution tank with a nominal content of 3200 (832 model) or 4000 liters (840 model). The solution tank with a hinged lid, basket strainer, liquid level indicator, pressure agitation and internal tank rinsing system is mounted to the frame, along with a 400 liter rinse tank and a 20 liter hand wash tank.

Pump

The 800i TF series trailed sprayer has a piston diaphragm pump with a capacity of 280 liters per minute. The pump is located on the drawbar and is driven by the tractor PTO via a gearbox and by means of a PTO shaft with a double wide angle coupling (1 3/8" with 6 splines). The PTO shaft has a separate operator's manual, supplied in a plastic bag connected to the PTO shaft.

Air compressor

The machine comprises one or two air compressors dependent on the size of the spray boom (larger booms require two compressors) to deliver pressurized air to the twin-fluid air-assisted nozzles. The air compressors are driven by the tractor PTO and can be switched on and off by means of a gearbox. The gearbox and compressor(s) are located on the drawbar. Air is aspirated by the compressor via an air-filter and delivered to the air pressure regulation unit. The air pressure regulation unit comprises a relief valve, an air pressure regulator, a by-pass valve and an exhaust silencer. The pressurized air is delivered from the air pressure regulator to the air section manifold on the center of the boom. Electric boom air section valves then deliver the pressurized air to the air supply lines on the spray boom.

Suction unit

The suction unit comprises a suction valve, a suction filter, a filling hose connection and a drain valve.

Different filling hose connections are available such as camlock (quick release couplings) , Fire Service or B/C-couplings (Storz). All couplings have blind caps.

Drawbar

The drawbar is mounted to the front of the frame. With the universal drawbar, both lower and upper linkage connection to the tractor is possible. The drawbars are available as fixed or automatic trailing versions. Different kinds of drawbar tow eyes can be fitted to the drawbars (see "Drawbar Tow Eyes" in the section entitled "Coupling and Uncoupling of the Sprayer"), to connect the sprayer to the different kinds of tractor draw hooks.

Axle

The 800i TF series trailed sprayer can be equipped with different types of axles:

  • fixed axle (8-bolts) for track width 1.50/1.80 m (for 832i TF and 840i TF with a maximum speed of 25 km/h)
  • sliding axle (8-bolts) for track width 1.50-2.00 m (for 832i TF and 840i TF with a maximum speed of 25 km/h)
  • sliding axle (8-bolts) for track width 1.72-2.25 m (for 832i TF and 840i TF with a maximum speed of 25 km/h)
  • sliding axle (10-bolts) for track width 1.50-2.00 m (for 840i TF with speeds above 25 km/h)
  • sliding axle (10-bolts) for track width 1.72-2.25 m (for 840i TF with speeds above 25 km/h)

The axles have drum brakes with an internal speed sensor. Hydraulic or pneumatic brake systems are available.

The axles are fitted to the frame with a double link connection. The axles are equipped with special polyurethane dampers.

Tires and Wheels

The trailed sprayers can be fitted with various row crop tires or flotation tires. The wheels and rims are welded together. Wheels and tires are available as 40 km/h or as 50 km/h version. The wheels for the standard axles of the 832i TF and 840i TF have an 8-bolt connection. For the 840i TF high speed axle, the wheel connection has 10 bolts.

Although the tires and wheels can be rated as 40 or 50 km/h, the maximum load the tires and wheels can carry at these speeds is limited. Therefore the axle load, tire pressure and load index of the tire determine the maximum speed (or maximum load).

Control system

The control system comprises the pressure regulator and main shut-off located on the left side of the machine and a pressure gauge located on the front of the sprayer. The pressure filter is fitted to the left front of the machine together with the suction filter. The boom section valves are integrated in the spray boom. The electro-hydraulic (EHC-2) control box and the GreenStar 2™ 1 display can be fitted in the cab. The application rate control for 800 series TwinFluid™ 2 sprayers is available with a flow sensor. For droplet size control, the sprayer is equipped with an air and liquid pressure sensor. All these sensors are located at the centre section of the spray boom. An on-board

wind speed sensor is available to inform the operator about the current weather conditions and recommend the correct droplet size.

Spray Boom

Two ranges of spray booms are available. Double folded booms with working widths ranging from 18 - 30 meters and a transport width of 2.55 meters. Triple-folding booms are available with working widths from 24 to 39 meters, and a transport width of 3.00 meters.

The spray boom has a hydraulic height adjustment by means of a parallelogram system and the spray boom segments are folded/unfolded with two double-acting cylinders per side (left and right). The spray boom is fitted with a central pendulum, anti-yaw system and boom tilt correction. Extra features available for the spray boom are hydraulic folding/unfolding of the spray boom end segments to spray with a reduced working width, independent folding/unfolding of the spray boom end segments left and right to spray along obstacles in the field and independent raising and lowering of the spray boom arms left and right (variable geometry).

The spray boom is fitted with stainless steel spray lines and aluminium air supply lines, sub-divided into a number of sections. The twin fluid nozzles are fitted on revolving nozzle holders.
