Sensor Calibration - Air Pressure

The "Air Pressure" calibration menu can be entered via the drop down menu in the field "Sensor to Calibrate". It will show the current settings for the items listed below.

Setting and calibration of the air pressure sensor are carried out in this menu. The air pressure sensor has a working range from 0.0-2.0 bar with a corresponding output of 4-20 mA. The analog current signal is converted into a digital value (ADC) by a 10-bit converter (ADC value between 0 to xxxx). Each pressure sensor needs to be calibrated.

Air Pressure Sensor Reference Value [ADC] this value is the output of the pressure sensor at 0.0 bar. The value can be between 0 and 305 (corresponding with 6.0 mA). The value can be
entered manually with the numeric keypad. However, automatic calibration of the reference value is the preferred method. Automatic select "Auto" to enter the menu for calibration of the air pressure sensor reference value. Manual The value can be entered manually with the numeric keypad. However, automatic calibration of the reference value is the preferred method. Air Pressure Sensor Maximum Value [bar] this is the maximum pressure which can be measured by the air pressure sensor (corresponding with the maximum ADC value). This value must be calibrated automatically. Automatic select "Auto" to enter the menu for calibration of the maximum pressure (bar) value for the air pressure sensor.

Manual - Low and High Reference Calibration

The value can be entered manually with the numeric keypad. However, automatic calibration of the reference value is the preferred method.

Automatic - Air Pressure Sensor Reference Calibration

On this page, the auto calibration of the air pressure sensor reference value (at 0.0 bar) can be carried out. There are two steps to the process.

1. Make sure that there is NO pressure (0.0 bar) applied to the air pressure sensor. Switch off the PTO and open the main shut-off valve and boom section valves temporarily to relieve any possible air pressure in the system.
2. Select "Next" to start the automatic calibration and the new reference value for the pressure sensor will be calculated. The reference ADC value should be maximum 305 units (or 6.0 mA) otherwise a calibration error will be given. When complete select "CAL" to save settings.
3. The actual sensor value (ADC) can be read on the screen.
4. After automatic calibration, the screen will automatically return to the "Air Pressure Sensor" page.

Automatic - Air Pressure Sensor Maximum Value

On this page, the auto calibration of the maximum pressure value of the air pressure sensor can be performed. There are two steps to the process.

1. Enter the calibration pressure (bar), remember to use the decimal point.
2. Apply a constant pressure to the air pressure sensor. Connect a calibrated pressure gauge to the air supply line and start the machine. Adjust the air pressure of the sprayer on the calibrated pressure gauge to the selected calibration pressure (e.g. 1.0 bar) in manual mode (with switch 4 of control box) with the master shut-off valve and the section valves in the open position (i.e. spraying).
3. Select "Next" to start the automatic calibration and the new maximum pressure of the sensor will be determined. The actual sensor (ADC) value can be monitored on the display. The ADC value must be at least 153 units (or 3.0 mA) higher than the reference ADC value, otherwise a calibration error will be given. When complete select "CAL" to save settings.
4. After automatic calibration of the maximum pressure value of the air pressure sensor, the screen will go back to the menu "Air Pressure Sensor".
