Check Engine Idle Speed (3215 and 3415)

This check requires the engine to be warm and under zero load.

2. Start the engine and measure slow idle speed and ensure it is within specification using hand-held digital tachometer JT05719.

3. If idle speeds are not correct proceed as follows:

a. Disconnect throttle linkage (B).

b. Adjust set screw (C) until correct slow idle rpm is obtained. Ensure that set screw touches stop when at slow idle.

c. Connect throttle linkage, if necessary adjust throttle linkage.

If unable to obtain specified idle speed, see your John Deere dealer.
