Cylinder Speed

Cylinder speed primarily affects two conditions:

  • The amount of threshed grain.
  • The amount of broken or stripped grain.

Easily threshed crops are those requiring low impact to separate the seed but capable of withstanding high impacts before shattering. Cylinder speed adjustments are easier with this type of crop.

However, when the impact required to thresh the crop is almost enough to shatter the grain the cylinder speed should be adjusted carefully to achieve the best possible threshing with the lowest amount of breakage.
