Cleaner Operation
The cleaner is designed to clean threshed grain and collect the head or ear tips that have not been completely threshed.
A mixture of grain, fine straw, head tips and ear tips falls onto the grain pan. The pan's side-to-side movement moves the material rearward where a wire comb separates grain from the straw by means of an air stream provided by the fan. The grain and heavier straw fall on the chaffer for prefiltering. Grain and a small amount of straw reach the grain screen. Straw is thrown out of the combine and unthreshed tips are sent for rethreshing via the chaffer extension.
Clean grain passes to the grain tank.
The chaffer and grain screen move alternately and in opposite directions to assure greater cleaning efficiency and to prevent the accumulation of straw or blockages.
