Combine Ground Speed

The ideal ground speed is greatly dependent on the volume of crop taken in and field conditions. Consider the season, crop moisture content, established loss limit, combine capacity and header working width. In high productivity situations reduce the ground speed appropriately.

Use of maximum working speed depends on the threshing and separating capacity, bearing in mind the desired extent of final product cleaning.

At high ground speeds there is a risk of overloading the combine and causing extensive grain loss. Even when all adjustments are correct the result cannot be assured. High ground speeds mean unthreshed ears, husks and stems, as well as shattered straw due to overloading of the straw walkers and sieves. The result is grain loss.
