Adjusting Cutterbar Wear Plates

The wear plates (A) are located along the back of the cutterbar. They are adjustable to compensate for wear. The wear plate bends (B) should be aligned to provide support for the entire length of the cutterbar.

causym CAUTION: Always engage the reel hydraulic cylinder safety lockouts when raising the header to work under it.

NOTE: Raise the header to a height which allows the job to be done and enables the safety lockouts to be placed in the hydraulic cylinders.

IMPORTANT: Before adjusting the wear plates, position the cutterbar at the right end of its travel. To do this, turn the cutter drive pulley until this position is reached.

Loosen the clamp mounting screws (C) and pull the blades forward. Adjust one plate at a time and tighten screws. Adjust the play under the cutterbar with two feeler gauges (D), one at least 0.5 mm (0.02 in.), which should fit between the plate bend and the cutterbar longitudinal arm. The other one should be 1.5 mm (0.06 in.) (and should not fit there). Once the adjustment is completed check all bolts for tightness.

Do not use hammers or pry bars. Make all adjustments with your hands.
