Air Filter Primary Element

NOTE: The primary element should be cleaned when the instrument panel warning light comes on. More frequent cleaning is not necessary and could result in damage to the element.

The procedure is as follows:

Remove the cover and remove the primary element. Clean the cover and housing, especially around the seal.

Gently tap the filter element against your palm, do not allow dust to get into the element.

Direct compressed air (max. pressure of 500 kPa [5 bar; 72.5 psi]) at an angle to the inner surface of the element.

Washing Element

IMPORTANT: Never wash element in fuel or a strong cleaning agent.

Change both primary and secondary air cleaner elements at least every 1200 operating hours.

First rinse the filter element under running water to remove as much dirt as possible.

Then soak element for 15 minutes in lukewarm water, not above 32°C (90°F). If necessary, add a non-alkaline household detergent and wash filter.

Rinse filter element in clean running water with a pressure not exceeding 200 kPa (2 bar; 30 psi). Allow filter element to dry.
