Manual Sharpening of Cutterhead Knives
General
CAUTION:
Fan and cutterhead may continue to rotate for several minutes after power is shut off. To avoid bodily injury, do not open or remove any doors or shields until all rotating parts have stopped completely.
IMPORTANT:
Make sure that cutterhead can rotate freely.
NOTE:
Always use the automatic knife sharpening function for sharpening the cutterhead knives. The manual knife sharpening function should only be used in case of malfunction of the automatic knife sharpening.

|
NOTE:
If switch (A) is already in "On" position when starting engine, the cutterhead cannot be reversed. Move switch to "Off" position for at least one second and then to "On" position again. The cutterhead will start turning (in reverse direction) after two or three seconds.
-
Slide the stone at a uniform rate of travel along the full width of the cutterhead (this should take 4-5 seconds).
CAUTION:
Shut off cutterhead drive by means of switch (A) and engine before checking knives. Cutterhead may continue to rotate for several minutes. Wait for cutterhead to stop rotating before opening guards.
-
At the end of each R.H. stroke, the ratchet (B) will advance one tooth more to lower the stone.
NOTE:
For the last six strokes, only slide the stone without engaging the ratchet (stop when ratchet latch (C) is about 20 mm (0.8 in.) from the ratchet teeth).
-
Check knives often to avoid excessive sharpening.

-
Remove rod and store it back in cutterhead frame (not illustrated).
-
Engage kernel processor/power chute drive belt.
-
Install cutterhead guards.
IMPORTANT:
