Fuel Filter With Integrated Water Trap - Cummins Engine
Drain Water and Sediment from Water Trap Daily:
Shut off the engine and open drain valve.
Turn the valve clockwise approximately 1-1/2 to 2 turns and leave open until clear fuel appears (I).
Drain contaminated fuel into a suitable container.
IMPORTANT:
Do not overtighten the valve. Overtightening can damage the threads.
Turn the valve counterclockwise approximately 1-1/2 to 2 turns to close the drain valve (II).
Changing Fuel Filter:
CAUTION:
To prevent a possible fire hazard, remove the ignition key before servicing filters.
Every 250 hours of operation clean the area around the fuel filter.
Close shut-off valve at fire wall.
Remove fuel filter.
Clean the gasket surface of filter.
Use the correct filter for your engine.
Use clean oil to lubricate the filter seal (III) and fill the new filter with clean fuel (IV).
IMPORTANT:
Do not overtighten filter. Overtightening can distort the threads or damage the filter element seal.
Install the filter as specified by the filter manufacturer (V).
NOTE:
It is not necessary to bleed the fuel system.
