System Gain

NOTE: Channel 1 is set to "6" at the factory.

The system gain controls the response of the steering valve to a given feeler input. If the system gain is set too low, steering will be sluggish and field performance will be poor as the system will have a tendency to wander through the field. If set too high, the system will go unstable as the steering wheels "chatter" rapidly from side to side.

Though performance does not suffer, an excessive gain setting is undesirable. The system gain should be set as high as possible without the system going unstable. The best way to determine this setting is to increase the system gain setting until the wheels begin to chatter, then decrease the setting one increment. Higher gain values indicate a faster system response.
