Starting the Engine

causym CAUTION: Never operate the engine in a closed building. Make sure there is plenty of ventilation.

Danger of asphyxiation!

1. Make sure that battery main switch (A) is in ON position, as shown.

2. Apply parking brake (B).

NOTE: Applying parking brake will automatically set the FNR lever (C) to neutral position.

3. On machine with Synchro-Shuttle transmission, set gear shift lever (D) to neutral.

4. Depress the accelerator (E) approximately one third through its travel.

5. Turn key in main switch (F) clockwise to end position. Release key as soon as engine starts. Check that the warning lights go out.

Do not operate starting motor for more than 20 seconds at a time. Turn main switch key to "off" position and wait at least one minute before trying again.

Do not adjust accelerator. Run engine for a few minutes. At temperatures below zero, extend warm-up period accordingly.
