Checking Fuel Filter
Should water or sediment deposits have settled in filter, proceed as follows:
1.
Loosen drain screw (A) and water trap bleed screw (B).
2.
Retighten the drain screw as soon as water and sediment deposits have drained out.
3.
Pump the transfer pump primer lever (C) until the flow of fuel is free from air bubbles. Then retighten the bleed screw (do not overtighten!).
NOTE:
If the primer lever will not pump fuel and no resistance is felt at upper end of stroke, turn engine with starter motor to change position of fuel pump drive lobe on camshaft. When bleeding is completed, be sure to leave the lever at the point nearest the engine.
If water was present in fuel filter, then also slacken off the drain screw (D) on fuel tank by one turn. After draining off any water deposits, retighten drain screw by hand.
