IV-Length-of-Cut Transmission (IVLOC)

    Length of cut is directly influenced by:

  • the feeding speed (feed roll speed)
  • the number of cutterhead knives

The IVLOC-transmission provides drive power for the feedrolls and the header in forward and reverse operating mode. Input drive power is from the cutterhead. The feedroll speed can be infinitely varied from the cab by controlling the speed of a hydrostatic motor on the transmission which is powered by a variable displacement hydraulic pump. Variable speed control is implemented by a planetary gear set whose sun gear is driven by the hydrostatic motor. The outer ring gear is connected to the main input shaft. Speed of the feedrolls is a result of the position of the sun gear and ring gear speed.
