Replacing and Adjusting Partial Set of Cutterhead Knives

causym CAUTION: Before servicing or adjusting the harvester, always disengage all power, shut off engine and wait until all moving parts have stopped rotating.

Open feed roll housing (refer to "Feeding System").

On both sides move lock (A) inward and rotate 90° downward.

Remove guard (B).

When replacing individual knives, use stationary knife for alignment.

Loosen the three attaching screws (C) of knife to be replaced or adjusted.

IMPORTANT: To replace a knife, pull it out and remove attaching screws and clamp bar. Before installing a new knife, check knife bed area of knife retainer using a straight edge (no deformation in this area is allowed). The knife must make good contact over the entire knife bed area.

Use stationary knife to align new or incorrectly adjusted knife, i.e. slide knife forward until a clearance of 0.2-0.4 mm (0.007-0.016 in.) is obtained.

Tighten attaching screws finger tight and mark knife.

IMPORTANT: Rotate cutterhead by hand to check clearance.

Tighten screws (C) to specified torque (see instructions in this Section), beginning with center screw.

Close feed roll housing and prepare machine for knife sharpening. Sharpen cutterhead knives. After knife sharpening, adjust stationary knife and, if necessary, outlet band / recirculating screen.
