Servicing Your Machine

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Operating in extreme conditions may require more frequent service intervals:

· Engine components may become dirty or plugged when operating in extreme heat, dust or other severe conditions.

· Engine oil may lose efficiency if vehicle is operated constantly at slow or low engine speeds or with frequent short trips.


Please use the following timetables to perform routine maintenance on your machine.

As Needed

· Replace alternator belt.

· Replace air filter elements.

· Replace light bulbs.

· Lubricate seat slide rails.

· Replace fuses.

· Clean or replace battery.

· Check radiator hoses and clamps.

· Check tire air pressure.

· Clean fuel tank overfill reservoir.

· Drain water and sediment from fuel tank.

· Check and adjust front wheel toe-in.

Break-in - After 1 Hour

NOTE: When tractor is new or anytime wheel hardware is loosened, tighten all bolts after one hour of operation and every four hours thereafter until proper torque values are maintained.

· Check wheel bolt torque.

Break-in - After First 50 Hours

· Change engine oil and filter.

· Hydro Models: Change transmission oil and filter.

· Hydro Models: Clean transmission suction screen.

· Check alternator belt tension.

· Check radiator hoses and clamps.

· Check air filter intake hoses and clamps.

· Check wheel bolt torque.

· Check for loose, missing, or damaged parts.

Every 10 Hours or Daily

· Check engine oil level.

· Check transmission oil level.

· Check air filter rubber dust unloading valve.

· Check air restriction indicator.

· Check radiator coolant level.

· Check fuel filter sediment bowl.

· Check and clean grille and side screens.

· Check and clean radiator cooling screen.

· Lubricate tractor grease fittings.

Every 50 Hours

· MFWD Models: Check front axle oil level.

· Check wheel bolt torque.

· Check tire air pressure.

· Check battery electrolyte.

· Lubricate tractor grease fittings.

Every 200 Hours

· Change engine oil and filter.

· All Models: Change transmission oil filter.

· Clean fuel filter sediment bowl.

· Inspect alternator belt and check tension.

· Check and clean radiator cooling fins.

· Lubricate 3-point hitch.

Every 400 Hours

· All Models: Change transmission oil and filter.

· All Models: Clean transmission suction screen.

Every 500 Hours

· Check primary air filter element.

· Check engine speeds.

· Check air filter intake hoses and clamps.

· Replace fuel filter.

· Check park brake adjustment. (See your John Deere dealer.)

· MFWD Models: Change front axle oil.

· Inspect fuel injectors. (See your John Deere dealer.)

· Adjust engine valve clearance. (See your John Deere dealer.)

Every 500 Hours or Yearly

· Check radiator coolant freeze point and clarity.

Every 2 Years

· Change radiator coolant.
